For the Strong in Heart

Good afternoon mah boooos! How are you?

Today has been magic, basically. I woke up a few minutes late, but that’s okay because I had chilled coffee in the fridge and bananas for smoothie making. Life is gooood.

I sipped on my coffee while I painted my face pretty and put my hair back in a sleek, low pony. My outfit took forever to happen, but I finally settled on indigo skinny jeans, platinum Sperry’s, a tribal green tank top, cream cardigan, and the most beautiful cuff from Lucky brand:

Meow. Girl, you fierce.

Sorry bloggies, the rest of the outfit will have to be a mystery. ;)

It was deliciously warm outside, and being properly caffeinated and nourished with a banana-vega-almond milk smoothie, I went to Bio and actually enjoyed class. And no, it wasn’t because I liked the lecture. Sorry prof.

I started my Christmas list, which is looking a little hefty on the wallet right now. I need to work on that and lighten things up a bit.

But to the juice of the story. Padre came today for lunch!

I mean I was kind of excited to see him.

I kind of really really love Padre.

I also have a lot of focusing issues.

Not kidding, the squirrels here are black. Wtf.

Back to business. Padre stopped by on his way home from the NYC Marathon (yeah my Dad is kind of a big deal), which is his eighth marathon. After his accident, it was a true miracle that he was able to finish it, nay even run it. I am truly blessed to have him as a father, and for him to love me so much.

Mrow. Sorry to get sappy on you. Moving away from home makes you appreciate the beautiful things in your life, you know?

We went to lunch at one of the my favorite cafes nearby, Strong Hearts Cafe. It’s completely vegan and super healthy, so clearly it’s a winner in my book.

We started off with the soup of the day, which was some delicious curry concoction with sweet potato, chickpeas, and the most delicious spices ever. God, it was spicy, but it was soooo good. Warm for mah bellay.

Soup.

Padre’s happy soup face:

Isn’t he the cutest??

A kombucha was necessary.

Multi-Green.

Duh, don’t you know me?

And then the most magical salad ever happened. I’ve gotten it before, but trust me when I say that virtually anything tastes a million times more magical when it’s not from your dining hall.

Truth.

I got the Soba Noodle Salad, which came with spring greens, buckwheat soba noodles, marinated tofu, and a miso-ginger vinaigrette.

Garnished with sesame seeds.

Magic.

I had to take some home because that plus the soup and kombucha were super filling.

Love you K-Booch.

We chatted for awhile longer, and then it was time to say goodbye again.

Wahhhh. Already miss my papa. It’s sad not seeing my family every day, but I love my life here, and I love my life on my own. I think what makes me most sad is that they feel that they’re losing me, or are scared about me living away from home. The last thing I would ever want would be to hurt my family or make them sad.

Meooww. Love them so much.

With that being said, two weeks to Thanksgiving break!!! And then I get to see summer boy, my best friends, my puppy, and my family. Love love love. Can’t wait.

Now excuse me while I go drink some more coffee, jam out to my Rager playlist on Spotify, and get shit done.

Dinner with a friend and a workout are on the agenda for tonight. Have a good night booboos!

xoxox,

Katelyn

It must have been so nice to see your Dad! That restaurant sounds awesome and I'm sure he needed good food after going hard yesterday. aaand you remind me of how kombucha has been lacking in my life, which is not okay.

What does kombucha taste like?

What fun to see your dad! I don't get to see my dad very often either, with how busy he is. But I always adore the times I do see him. :)

Soooo hard to explain, but really similar to diet soda in its fizziness, but it's very subtly sweet. I don't eat sugar, so to me it tastes sweet, but to some other people it tastes like a dry wine.
