Think I’m crazy? Think again.
This green stuff is not only filled with tons of nutrients that keep you healthy (read: slender) and make your skin glow, but it’s filled with healthy, natural carbohydrates and amino acids to get you through a tough workout.
Insert: The Lunch Break Workout. Proof, right there.
Green juice goes straight to your blood stream without the bulk of fiber, making it a seamless way to give you the extra fuel you need before a workout. This means: no tummy aches, and (almost) no mid-workout stop-and-squats. (TMI? oops)
I also use green juice to start my day. Some serious juice + blog comment responding = my kind of morning.
Time for me to go kick my own butt. I think I’m gonna go with some running and the rowing machine… ideas?

Hey Katelyn! I love the green juice. I started making it for my breakfast or prelunch work out drink in the winter and I have noticed such a huge difference in skin + hair and + bathroom business (tmi?… nah!)
here’s the recipe that I’ve been using if you are interested!
happy running!

i had over 200 people sign up to do the daily green smoothie challenge this month and a lot of them were first timers who were really surprised at the energy boost!
Bananas!
MMMM, while I love juice, especially ones with greens hidden in them, chocolate milk is my favorite post work out drink!
I am a consistent juicer. I juice for breakfast + a juice as an afternoon snack. It gets my day started off right and gets me through the mid-day slump! I can’t imagine NOT juicing!
I do the sameeee thing! Makes me feel so so good.
YAY for green juice! It’s a great way to power your workout! <3
Green juice is definitely a great choice pre workout! I’m not much of a pre-workout eater actually. Since I’m usually at the gym or working out by 5:30, I just can’t choke anything down that early. I really want a juicer, but my vita works for now.
I feel like drinking a bunch of juice before a workout would make it slosh in my stomach while I’m running. I like having peanut butter and a banana on a slice of whole wheat bread!
I usually fuel my workouts with fruit & nuts. I totally would fuel with juice if I had a juicer! it’s definitely high on my list of “necessary kitchen appliances” to buy.
Great post Katelyn. I love green juice. My day begins with a glass of green juice. Often times I’ll drink green juice right after a workout to re-mineralize my body.
I love, love, love green juice. I used to hate it, but there is something about a little apple and lemon that makes it taste so good.
Maybe I’m being oversensitive here, but I’m sort of bothered by your phrase here: “keep you healthy (read: slender)”. I know a lot of people who are not “slender” but who are very healthy people. And I know lots of slender people who aren’t healthy. So what exactly are you implying here? I don’t want this to come off as accusatory, but I’m genuinely curious because I know you have an ED background and this phrase sounds disordered to me, especially coinciding with your new eating “clean” challenge. I think taking care of our health is vital (something I’m still working on considering my past, too) but it can sometimes be a way of controlling our lives when we feel like we are out of control. It’s just that with your struggles at home that you’ve been talking about, and this – that could be a trigger for obsessional thinking about food and calories.
Hi Hannah! Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I understand where you’re coming from. However, that’s not at all what I meant. Thank you for your genuine concern.
Hi Katelyn,
I love your website–you have such a positive, unique, and wonderful voice! So that’s why it bothered me when you said “Healthy (read: slender).” Lots and lots of people are healthy who are not slender–and lots of people who are slender are not healthy! They’re two different things which are not necessarily related at all. I think that’s kind of insensitive to your readers, many of whom are probably not slender but are healthy. Just something to think about!
Thanks for your comment. Everyone’s definition of Slender is different. To me, that means health and looking well. To you, that may mean something else. I can’t agree with you that it was insensitive on my part, but I do apologize if it made you feel uncomfortable. Thank you so much for being a loyal reader, and for your kind words. Readers, like you and Hannah, keep me thinking and on my toes! <3
