Does working out ever make you mad?

This is a serious question.

Today, I slept a ridiculous amount of hours (woke up at 8 am, 10:30 am, and then at 2:30 pm), ran errands (soooo many errands), and then hit the gym after having a serious iced coffee from Starbucks. Workout looked a little like this:

I started with a ten-minute cardio warmup, and then went to strength training. Once I started hitting the high weights and doing everything to maximum, I got this hurricane of adrenaline and I literally started getting mad. Not at myself, but at the weights. It was like this brain mode of, I can do this, I can lift these weights, and there’s nothing that’s going to stop me.

It was as if I decided to just cream them. In my head, I saw the strength I wanted to have, and wanted to build. It was a seriously intense feeling. I was also really mad because Germany lost to Italy. Not a good day in soccer. Regardless, I crushed an hour or so of weighs and my muscles were trembling after a lot of my sets.

To me, this feels awesome. I’d rather put my body through a really tough Tabata or sprint-interval workout, or some really kick-ass weights. That’s just me. I’m all about high intensity, in my workouts, and in life. (for those of you that know me in real life, you’re probably nodding your head in agreement)

that happens to me more when i’m running than when i’m strength training. running is HARD for me, so i get mad about it easier.

i know that this one guy at my gym gets mad at the weights… one time he dropped his weights and then ran at the mirror yelling like a caveman. LOUDLY. the gym was realllly crowded, everyone looked, and it was really awkward. the end.

I get the whole mad feeling too…but then when the workout is over it turns into an “I’m high on life” feeling! So many emotions within an hour hah! Way to rock your workout!!

In my psychology conflict resolution class I learned that people tend to be more aggressive after they exercised vs. if they hadn’t exercised at all.

I’ve never thought of it as a mad feeling, more of a determination I guess. Interesting way to look at it though! Then its like working out your aggression in the workout, which makes more sense than yelling at someone ;)
