{Birthday} Shots: Fancy Pants.

Good morning! Guess who’s finally delivering on birthday food porn?

Meeee. I hope you’re excited. These pictures are pretty.

Birthday dinner buddy was Lisa, as if you would expect anything different. Love of my life and ray of sunshine.

She’s moving to California the day after I move back to Syracuse, and I may be shedding a tear or two over the fact that she’ll be a thousand miles away versus an hour drive. I guess I’ll just have to visit her in Cali. Yeah you’ll really have to convince me on that one.

We spent some time with the menu:

Which we decided was really well done. We both have a solid appreciation for good design, and this cabana wasn’t too bad either. Talk about perfect outdoor seating!

We began with the Warm Mushroom Salad:

I have this thing for mushrooms, and I just really like them. The cheese on this was also unreal. I usually don’t eat cheese (dairy maybe once a week), but holy moly. I could go for this on some ‘shrooms any day.

The tiniest shiitake mushroom there ever was.

But actually though.

And then everything came so we just piled it on. Only way to do it. The large and in-charge chicken meatballs:

Pronounced “meatbawwwls”. Straight from Grandma’s kitchen.

So. good.

Then our skewers:

From left to right: Beef skewer (HOLY CRAP these were unreal. Literally exploding with teriyaki. I could eat this all day every day. Even for breakfast.), asparagus, and scallop (infused with balsamic and lemon. WIN).

No, but really. I could eat those beef skewers every day. It was like a literal teriyaki explosion. If any of you end up cooking for me one day, now you know what to make.

My plate:

Unreal. The best combination of flavors in my mouth, ever. For a bomb birthday dinner, go to Next Door Bar & Grill. You’re welcome.

Next up: Dessert! (p.s. Have you entered in my birthday giveaway?!)

Do you like meat bawwwwls?
Do you ever have unexplained accents that don’t have anything to do with where you live?
Which one of the above would you want in your belly?

I love mushrooms too! That tiny one is so cute. Meatballs are delicious. I actually don’t think I’ve ever had chicken meatballs before, though. They sound good!
