by Katelyn Block on August 15, 2012 · 9 comments

VLOG for you today! I’m working on saying “um” less and I think it’s working. I loved all of your feedback on uncommon workout tools on my last post. If you’re looking for something new to try, scroll through the comments and you’ll find at LEAST ten new workout toys.

I had an awesome lunch today with Tracy from SugarCrafter, and pictures of that will be up later. For now, here’s a little vloggy vlog of me in a super-caffeinated state. Enjoy!

Tell Me: What do you look for in a travel snack? Protein, fat, limited sugar? What are your favorite brands?
Even Better: Share YOUR best tips for efficient packing! We’ll talk about that in the next post, and some of you might earn a shoutout. ;)

I always look for things w the Most protein for sure! Low sugar is a major plus too! For efficient packing I actually roll my clothes instead of fold. I know it sounds weird, but they don’t wrinkle at all and it saves sooooooo much room! Good luck!! SPALove!

What a smart idea!! Definitely going to roll up my clothes. They might be easier to find that way too ;)

Haha I save the best for last, too!!! I’m trying to get better about just using what I like, and enjoying it.

and WOW a gram of protein per calorie? holy cow, can’t wait for my “bits” to arrive. I’ll need them with all the workouts this long weekend!

those energy bits sound super awesome! :) i love snacks. so much. next year when i’m on a meal plan i’m going to have to make a budget so i don’t spend a ton of money on snacks… cause there’s a TJs and Whole Foods like 10 minutes away from me. yeah. i’m gonna have issues.

my best packing tip would have to be to pack for an hour, take a 10-15 minute break, and then get back to it! and blast lots of happy music to make it more enjoyable. because i seriously HATE packing… and packing all my stuff up for school next year to move out for the first time is going to be SO NOT FUN. :(

Great travel food posts!! Been looking for turkey jerky lately, next time I see it Im grabbing it.

Packing tips … whelp, seeing as I leave for my last semester of college tomorrow, I have become quite an efficient packer (@ least I think so :) I come home often and traveled with volleyball a lot the past couple of years so my best tips would have to be:

1. Plan your “going out” / cute outfits before hand. These aren’t likely to change, especially if you like what you have picked out.
2. You can never pack too many t-shirts, shorts, sports bras, or tanks. I try to limit myself to 2 of each of these per day.
3. Get the travel containers to fill the bathroom products you have already (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tooth paste, etc) It’s a lot easier and cheaper.
4. Shoes. Ooooo shoes. How I love them, but they hate being confined. I try to limit myself to one type of each (sneaker, sandal, flip flop, heel) but sometimes they have to be catered to the outfit of choice.

It can get a little ridiculous at times, but the more you pack-and-go the easier and more efficient you get.

Can’t wait to hear how your cross-fit meet and greet went. Have fun!

I’m working on packing too and doing a great job of procrastinating instead. My best tip for efficient packing is to pack as many things inside of other things as you can. Pack things in your laundry hamper, laundry baskets, in dresser drawers, etc. It uses less boxes and helps consolidate stuff, which means less boxes to carry up and downstairs later!
