Because I’m stressed.

Don’t let me be your Debbie Downer. What’s made you happy today?!

Love this VLOG, Katelyn! Even though you are a little down right now, I felt like I could really relate to this. I was a blogger through 3 years of college and now one year out of college, so I sort of see both sides now and I definitely felt like it was tough to balance blogging and college life. You want to be like other bloggers whose priorities are working out and eating healthy and beasting all their goals, but at the same time, you want to have fun and live up college! I think you can find a good balance between the two, just stick with it. The blogs I find most interesting/real are the ones that struggle with balancing health goals/personal goals with real life commitments, and don’t have 24/7 free to devote to working out and making healthy meals. Just my thoughts :)
Hope things get better this week, keep your head up!

That was totally needed. I’m feeling the same way. I honestly just want this 50K to come so I can start racing and having fun again. I did crossfit this morning and I have a Crossfit Endurance WOD on the Bike tonight with a buddy. 3x5K rest 2mins. Its going to be hell. Hope everything starts clicking for you. You always have a fellow Fitfluential Ambassor’s and Crossfitter’s ear here.

During college and when taking post graduate and graduate courses it was challenging because I ached to just sit down and read a novel rather than required reading. But then when I had time, it was as if my brain was so overloaded with information I really didn’t want to even pick up reading for just pleasure — even a book that I thought I would have really liked to dive into. Maybe that is similar to your blog writing…..

Geeat vlog, girl! Sometimes ya just gotta get it all out there! I spent all weekend out of town and have been feeling a little off since I’ve gotten back. I’m used to getting up early at least one day a weekend for a long run and that just didn’t happen. Plus it’s always hard to transition, whether it’s from summer to school or a mini vacation to working/training. I hope things get a little easier for ya! I could never imagined blogging in college so it’s certainly impressive how much you have been able to juggle the past few years! Keep ya chin up!!

Katelyn, I feel like we are twins. Seriously you probably get that a lot buuuuuttttttt really. I’m also a sophomore in college, obsessed with crossfit after starting it this summer, living in an apartment for the first time (thank god no more dorm chef meals which were probably my savior) AND I am equally as stressed out as you are, kind of feeling like ” what the eff am I doing/ is this all even going to work out/ please god let me know that i’m not wasting my time.” Okay that was a long thought process BUT I just meant to say that I know where you are coming from 100% and you are not alone! Keep your head up, and push through it.. that’s what I am telling myself anyway! Schoolwork is stressful, there ain’t no doubt about it and I have to basically make myself stay on track even if it’s not exactly my favorite at the moment but it’ll all be worth it in the end.. I hope! I hope your funk gets better, because I am in the exact same funk as you are! I swear it’s also due to the weather… anyhoo, have a great week and remember to enjoy the little things.. like your crossfit! I am SO jealous that you get to go to a box.. I’ve had to resort to doing cf workouts in my school gym and let me tell you, they are not happy campers when you’re hogging equipment! ;)

Hang in there Katelyn! I love your honesty! College is the time to figure out where you want to go and I think you are already headed in a great direction! Enjoy the time that you are in right now because I totally wish I was back in college :) Ease up the pressure on yourself (I know it’s hard to do!) and just enjoy!

Hana September 5, 2012 at 2:49 PM

Hey there! My name is Hana and I’m a junior at the University of Cincinnati. I’ve always been a blog reader, just without one of my own! I’ve always loved reading your blog because it’s great to see it from someone close to my age, and I TOTALLY understand how you’re feeling. I’ve always worked during school and I definitely get to those points where I’m stressed and just wish there were more hours in the day, I had more motivation, I wasn’t as tired, etc. (although I could totally go for a nap right now if I didn’t have to work! retail = no fun.) Anyway, I just want to let you know you’re not alone because there are SO many times where I think to myself “so what am I doing??” “what’s this plan I have going on here?” I definitely don’t like feeling unsure of everything, but it’s allowed me to just accept and embrace it, because everybody has felt this kind of stress at some time or another. Just stay positive and I hope you have a great week, from one stressed college student to another!

I am in the exact same position at the moment, although I am approaching 30.
I wish I had of started thinking about this when I was at college age. I have a degree in criminology that I have no intention of using and I only realised a year ago that writing is what I wanted to do.

It is hard to figure out what you want in life, it’s such a big decision. All I would say is, make sure you enjoying living in the now too!

Jae September 6, 2012 at 4:38 PM

Hey Katelyn,
I’m in the same position as you right now. I’m a sophomore at BC and I’m going to tell you this loud and clear. I hope you’re not offended.
Your main thing right now is to be a student.Unless you plan on quitting school and pursuing blogging full time, its okay not to blog that much right now. One post here and there is fine. we all understand.
Blogging, as long as you do do one or two posts weekly, will be here for you. You wont be going to school forever. So, as people tell me, take a breather and chill. :) Life’s too short to be stressed about this. Hope school is going well.
