Hey there friends!
Guess what! I just finished my weekend at the CrossFit Level 1 training and I couldn’t be more happy.
My mind = blown. My body = exhausted.
I spent the majority of Saturday sipping water, blowing my nose, coughing, and fighting the constant urge to collapse and/or fall asleep while standing up. Unfortunately, I got sick around Thursday or Friday and it carried into the seminar day one on Saturday.
I got through a seriously scaled-down version of Fran (I was surprised I could get my legs to move at all) and got a hotel dinner with da PIC (Partner In Crime):
We’re doing acronyms now.
Beefy burger with cheesy cheese, lettuce and tomato, and sweet potato fries. I only had a few because darn that burger was good.
Afterwards we had cheesecake balls covered in dark chocolate because, durr, there’s nothing better.
We’ve been eating a lot of Whole Foods Hot Bar this weekend (the best!), and keeping it fairly healthy, with the exception of dessert. It’s the weekend, people, and when in Columbus…. we get dessert.
There is so much that I could say about the Level 1 Seminar, and I’m sure a bunch of the awesome stuff I learned will come out with time, but first things I have to say: It was incredible to be taught by such accomplished athletes. Lindsey Smith, Neal Maddox, Zac, Connor, Russell, and Rudy did an incredible job of teaching us all the down and dirty of all of the CrossFit movements. To say the least, I was humbled by the skill work we did on each movement.
I thought I knew quite a bit about each movement — but it’s when you start to get nit-picky that you realize how finely-tuned body mechanics are. It’s incredible. And I’m going to start posting technique videos because it’s just so fun and awesome.
Now, I’m terribly tired BUT I am going to hit you guys with some food porn from this weekend in the coming days. Driving back to Syracuse tomorrow, two presentations on Tuesday, and then finals coming up incredibly quickly.
Love you guys. Hope everyone had safe, exciting weekends, and you’re ready to tackle the week!
How was your weekend?
